Holualoa School was founded in 1897 on the slopes of Hualalai. We are a school who values hard work, taking care of each other, and always trying to do what is right. Holualoa students are prepared with the skills to succeed and the character to become leaders.
Our teachers and support staff exhibit a genuine love for all of our students. Many staff have either attended Holualoa School or have children or grandchildren who have been our students. An authentic sense of family runs through the school.
We are blessed with strong support from parents, extended families, and the community. Parents are involved through our Parent Teacher Organization, School Community Council, and through volunteering in classrooms. We host a variety of well-attended school festivals and community events. Community groups have supported our school with school supplies, weekly bags of food for families in need, and campus beautification projects.
Holualoa implements the Common Core State Standards for math and literacy. We use the Success For All and Wonders curriculums for literacy and the Stepping Stones curriculum for math. We use a variety of resources to support social studies and science. We are moving toward an increase in project based learning that incorporates multiple subjects into meaningful hands-on learning experiences.
Our school vision is “Kulia I Ka Nu`u” – Strive for the Summit. Together we intentionally pursue excellence with hope and promise.
Our mission is to:
- Provide a rigorous standards based education
- Educate the whole child
- Inspire a lifelong love of learning
- Prepare global citizens who exemplify tenacity and resilience
